HOW TO ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN THAT GLOW
Achieving and maintaining a glowing complexion is frankly, what we all strive for. Here are some tips to help you get and maintain that beautiful, radiant skin you deserve:
- Clean your skin properly Cleaning your skin is a crucial step in achieving a glowing complexion. Make sure to remove all traces of makeup, dirt, and oil from your face every night before going to bed. Use a gentle cleanser that is suitable for your skin type, and avoid using hot water, as this can strip your skin of its natural oils.
- Exfoliate regularly Exfoliating your skin helps to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and improve skin texture. As your skin naturally regenerates, old cells die and new cells grow. So what we want to do is to remove those dead skin cells, not only to reveal freshest layer of complexion, but also to make sure all your other skincare goodies can penetrate better and are actually effective. However, be careful not to over-exfoliate, as this can reduce your skin barrier and cause irritation.
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! One of the keys to achieving and maintaining glowing skin is hydration. Drink plenty of water throughout the day (but not too much, there is a recommendation for adequate daily fluid intake), and use a moisturizer regularly to keep your skin hydrated.
- Use Sunscreen Protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays is essential for preventing damage and maintaining a healthy glow. Make sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day, even on cloudy days.
- Incorporate antioxidants into your skincare routine Antioxidants help to protect your skin from free radical damage, which can cause premature aging and dullness. Look for skincare products that contain ingredients such as Vitamin C or Vitamin E. (A suggestion: rejuvenating serums with Vit C/Antioxidants/Hyaluronic acid).
- Get enough sleep Getting enough sleep is essential for your overall health, and it also plays a key role in achieving and maintaining a healthy glow. When you’re sleep-deprived, your skin can become dull, tired, and prone to breakouts. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night to help keep your skin looking its best.
- Eat a balanced diet Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean protein can help to give your skin a healthy glow. Pick antioxidant-rich foods like berries, leafy greens, sweet potatoes, broccoli or carrots can help to protect your skin from damage, while omega-3 fatty acids found in fish, avocadoes and nuts can help to improve skin hydration and elasticity. One of our favourite go-to drinks – matcha – is known for its high concentration of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory polyphenols, that can also help reduce skin inflammation.
- Use supplements. Find formulations that contain minerals like Zinc, Selenium and Iron or Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin A, which are also contributing to your skin’s health. Probiotics are important, as they impact your gut’s health and contribute to the overall balance of your body.
- Avoid smoking and regular alcohol intake Do we need to say much here? J
By following these tips and using a personalized skincare routine that is tailored to your specific needs, you can achieve and maintain a beautiful, glowing complexion. Remember, everyone’s skin is different, so what works for one person may not work for another. Don’t be afraid to experiment and consult with a skincare professional to find the best skincare routine for you. But remember, it must be gentle on your skin and it must feel good.
